Amazing Bridge between Malmo and Copenhagen

Oresund Bridge, a bridge to connect Sweden and Denmark.  Oresund Bridge is the world’s longest single bridge having both road and railway traffic in Europe. The bridge is 16 km long connects Copenhagen, the capital city of Denmark, and Malmo, a city in Sweden.

The construction of the bridge started in 1995 and completed on 14 August, 1999. The bridge opened to traffic on 1 July, 2000. On its completion in 1999, the Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden met on the bridge. It is built on an agreement between the Denmark and Swedish governments to connect two countries across Oresund strait.

The bridge has four-lane road and two-track railway line. The Oresund Bridge received the 2002 IABSE Outstanding Structure Award. IABSE stands for (International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering).
